School Supplies

Yesterday we went to our local Wal-Mart in search of school supplies. I got Wyatt's list from the school website which is a general list for all 3rd graders. As I was looking over the list there were some items on there that I wasn't sure why we needed them. Of course, there was the normal
(pencils, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, etc.) but we also needed post-it-notes, dry erase markers with an eraser, ream of pastel colored paper, 5-1 subject notebooks (with specific colors) and a few more. I just can't believe all the items that we have to send in for our children and the school doesn't furnish anything. When I went to school (like 100 years ago according to my kids) my elementary school furnished everything. I know the times have changed and everyone is in this economic down fall but what happens if there is someone who can't afford all that is asked for. Don't get me wrong, I really don't mind sending in items that are needed for the class and helping when I can but I just don't understand. I send my sister a copy of the list every year and she is just floored at what is on there. She is a 5 grade teacher in WV and she said if she asked her parents to furnish items they would just look and laugh at her or maybe even yell at her. Enough complaining now but watch out as school gets closer

Strep Throat in the Summer???

Well last Wednesday morning Wyatt got up complaining of a tummy ache. Stacy and I didn't think much of it and I gave him Tylenol (he thinks Tylenol cures everything). As soon as he got it down it came back up. So through out the day Stacy kept checking his temp and it would go up to 99.8 to 100.1 so more medicine and he slept all day. Well later that evening he started with his ears hurting and all night (and I mean all night) we were up and down with him crying.
So bright and early Thursday morning I called his doctor. Stacy took him at 9:45 and called me
within 30 minutes saying he had Strep. I couldn't not believe my ears I thought for sure he just had a bug or ear infection. I never dreamed it was strep because he never complained of a sore throat just his ears and tummy hurting.

Finally Home.....

I know it has been awhile since I posted anything but with the kids out of school it has been crazy. Wyatt has been at my mom's for several weeks then we all were off to the beach and then he wen't back to her house for another week. We were suppose to go last weekend for my nephew's birthday party but then my mom got sick. I got to WV on Friday morning and went straight to the hospital. After running tests the doctors determined she would need another heart cath...what a bummer and on a holiday weekend. Boy, she was upset because she had to miss the party and the fourth of July. Anyway all is well now, the cath turned out great with no problems and she was able to come home today.

The Concession Stand

As a mother of boys who play baseball, we have to work the concession stand for at least 1 game.
Well my night was suppose to be this past Saturday but the storm came so we were rescheduled for Tuesday. I have never worked in the fast food/restaurant industry in my life.
When you leave there you smell like french fries. Now I love me some fries but don't want to smell like one. I don't mind working sometimes and I actually like seeing all the other parents of kids we know that we don't play on a team with.

Ballgame Night

So last night Wyatt had a baseball game in Churchland. Now churchland is about a 30-40 minute drive depending on when you are traveling up 150. Wyatt plays machine pitch so there
is normally an umpire running the machine but we have kids at every position. Wyatt has been playing pitcher for most of the season now is good at it but last night he was having trouble catching the ball when the catcher threw it back. Well you know me, I yelled "come on buddy you need to catch the ball". And his response was "I'm trying". Of course everyone in the stands started laughing as well as the umpire. Then a few plays later there was a pop up hit to him and yes, he caught it. The umpire high-fived him and told him to tell his mom that he did catch the ball. The boys did great and we won!!!! What a great night.
On a side note when you turn to go to the field there is a worm farm. No I am not kidding and some of the kids thought that was cool

Kids say the craziest stuff

Okay so a few weeks ago when we were at my mom's my niece (Paige) decided she was going to stay all night with us. Now Paige is 5 but she is going on 25. We were sitting in the living room watching TV and we were talking about being related. My mom was trying to explain to the 5 year old that she was my niece and her mom is my sister. She asked, "What does a niece do?" Of course, we didn't know what to tell her except that we was always going to be related and that a niece is someone special. Well then she chimes up and says " I don't want to be delated". I started laughing so hard that tears were rolling down my cheeks. A little later she told my mom she didn't want to sleep with her because "Mama makes me sleep up against her and it makes me to hot". By this time I was laughing so hard I was crying and about to wet my pants (sorry so graphic) but both of these conversations went on forever. She sure thinks she knows it all.

Spring Cleaning...

For the past few weeks Stacy and I have talked about cleaning out of closets and cabinets.
Well this weekend we tackled them. I didn't realize how much stuff we have accumulated
over the years. We found stuff that is brand new in boxes that were gifts from our
wedding 13 years ago. And not to mention the clothes in Wyatt's room. We have tubs
full of clothes and baby items. Now that we have done our "spring cleaning" we decided
to have a yard sale. Hopefully this will help others out in finding "treasures" and I can
clear out room for new stuff for me. What is the old saying "A mans junk is another mans
treasure".

I am not a coffee drinker....

For you who know me personnaly, you know that I am not a coffee drinker. But for the last week I have been stopping at our local Sheetz and buying a French Vanilla Cappuccino...YUM! In the mornings I have been getting ready a little faster so I can make my morning stop to enjoy that hot, steamy drink. I even have my husband going after he drops Wyatt off at school to buy himself one. Next week I will be the one taking him to school then off to work so I won't have time to stop (boy am I going to miss it). Back to my cappuccino and work

Going back home....

We go back "home" alot. My family lives in West Virginia (yes, I am a hillbilly at heart). My oldest son, Thomas, lives with my mom so we are constantly heading up I-77.We have traveled for the past 3 weekends. First was Easter, then Thomas' prom and then last weekend was the National Honor Society induction. Thomas was 1 of 20 kids from the junior and senior class to be inducted. What a proud mom I was on that day and even got to escort him into the assembly. I just can't believe that my baby is going to be graduating next year then off to college.
Boy time flies...okay going back to work before I start crying.

This is my beginning....

My friend, Page, started blogging last year so I thought I would give it a try to write about my boys. I am a mom of 2 boys (Thomas 17 and Wyatt 8), work full-time and run a household while being a "ballfield" mom. I want to remember all that my kids do and accomplish in life while being a pround mom.
